In Ayurveda, “nature” refers to a person’s unique constitution, which is determined by the balance of the three basic forces or doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Everyone is born with a certain balance of these doshas, which influence their physical, mental and emotional characteristics. Nature-based dietary recommendations aim to maintain or restore the balance of these doshas to promote health and well-being.
The nature of the matter
Characteristics: People with a vata constitution are usually lean, energetic and creative, but may also be prone to anxiety, dryness and irregular digestion.
Bile nature
Characteristics: Pitta individuals are usually of medium build, have a strong metabolism, sharp intellect and a tendency towards irritability and irritation.
Kapha nature
Characteristics: People with a Kapha constitution have strong builds, good stamina, and a calm, steady demeanor, but may struggle with weight gain, lethargy, and excessive salivation.
